The Ethereum virtual machine (EVM) was created by Gavin Wood and Greg Colvin. EVM is a “quasi” Turing-complete system that manages the deployment and execution of smart contracts. The number of possible computations on EVM is inherently limited by the gas, which is why EVM is “Quasi” Turingcomplete. EVM will be replaced with eWASM after Ethereum moves to Proof of Stake (PoS).
